I created this blog as a way of venting and informing other Chauffeurs about the misclassification and abuse of Chauffeurs in Massachusetts. If you feel you are improperly classified as an Independent Contractor or Independent Operator, file an IRS Form SS-8.

Reading your posts hit too close to home. I've been victim of this 1 day off a month mentality(which I have to argue and justify why I need it off). Always on call, but never paid for it. I routinely get off after 1 in the morning(sometimes as late as 8) only to be harassed by the 9-5 office people calling me in early by 6 hours for the next day. This job is beyond ridiculous and has aged me so badly. The worst part is I like driving people around, I don't see why the people who manage us do such a horrific, slave-driving job. I mean, I don't think many people can understand what it's like to be on call 24-7 and not get paid for it.
You are correct, the chauffeurs really need the support of a union to assist them. Theses owners have gotten away with too much for too long.
